I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that these aptly named, Christian Louboutin “Supra Fifre” boots in fire engine red likely had only two customers this year: Singer Ciara, and maybe Wonder Woman. That’s not to say I don’t love them. I do. They’re the kind of boots which, the first day I became a super star or a super heroine, I would run right out and buy. But until that day, I’ll just enjoy living vicariously. The Christian Louboutin Supra Fifre boots are very hard to find. Your best bet is to call your nearest Barney’s, Bergdorfs and Niemans and ask their advice. And let me know if you actually buy a pair!

Never Enough Nitoinimoi

CL Nitoinimoi brown red mytheresaI reviewed the Christian Louboutin Nitoinimoi bandage bootie earlier in the black-on-black version and I think I was almost deleriously in love because I called them something like one of the iconic looks for the early 21st century.  The thing is, I’m feeling a little more sober now and I’m still inexplicably attracted to these ones–in brown and red!  So it must be true love.  I think the red strips look just like ribbon candy.  Just in time for Christmas! (you got that Santa?).  But I’ll tell you, much like sushi, these were an acquired taste.  I think everyone does sort of a double-take with the Nitoinimoi (OK I’ll stop typing the name because I know you stumble on it, even when reading silently).  Am I just too taken with this style–and that’s why I’d even consider–nay salivate over–this pair in brown and red?  Whether you call these iconic or not, new pairs are definitely near extinction. Find these ones for $1, 205 at mytheresa.com.

Happy Holidays!! Go Christmas, Go Hannukah, Go Kwanzaa…

I think red boots are just fun. And since today is Thanksgiving, and midnight tonight officially marks our entry into the holiday season where red becomes the new black, I thought I’d post on some notable boots in this color. This two-tone Vivianne Westwood Twin Boot is both festive and chic. I could see it at a nice [insert your December holiday of choice] party with a great mini-skirt and either bare legs or tights, depending on the weather where you are.

Can I say “Christmas” by the way? I guess so since this is just my blog and I think you should be able to celebrate and talk about the holiday you observe without offending anyone.  My friends from India often send me emails wishing me a “Merry Christmas” for my sake and I find it touching.  And, when the time comes, I write “Happy Diwali” to them.  Same goes with Hannukah and Kwanzaa. When my friends from Pakistan or Bangladesh send me an E-card wishing me “Eid Mubarak”, I’m touched. They know that I know that they know that I”m not Muslim, but I’m happy to get the greeting. I’ll often send them Christmas greetings.  It’s a great feeling.

I like that system rather thant delivering a lukewarm,  ”Happy Holidays” to everyone.  I do understand that, in places such at public schools, offices–anywhere a generalized holiday message is called for, that his greeting works. Especially because of the long history of Christian domination and persecution of others which carried into the first few centuries of this country’s existence.

In fact “Happy Holidays” is a festive sentiment, and I have nothing against it per se. It’s more a culture of NOT feeling free to share your own personal holiday with others that gets to me.  I sometimes feel hesitant to say Merry Christmas outside my family/friend circle anymore, for fear of offending someone, and I don’t think it should be that way either.  In John Lenon’s world, there’d be no religion, so NONE of us would celebrate our holiday. In my world, everyone would keep their lovely traditions while also appreciating others.   It goes like this: Person A: Merry Christmas!!!  Person B: Yes, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!! Person A: “Yeah, Happy Hannukah!!”. Smiles all around. :-) :-)

OMH (H standing for “Higher Power,or Lack-thereof, of the Reader’s Choice!”)  how did this turn into a diatribe on holidays and religious persecution?

OK back to the boots. They’re sexy no matter what you celebrate. I’d buy them.  Available for $593 at zappos.com.

Getting Ruffled by Moschino

Moschino
Not much from Moschino is catching my eye these days EXCEPT these adorable red peep-toed, ruffled booties. These festive kicks can take you from Christmas all the way through Valentine’s day! They also come in black, but the ruffles don’t stand out as much. They have a 4″ heel with a small platform. A GREAT sale price for this high-end designer of $484– just in time for the holiday season. You can find them at Nordstrom.com

Balmain buckle up and up and up…

Balmain

These Balmain’s take the buckle trend to a new level. I think it would be IMPOSSIBLE to go anywhere in these bad boys without getting some serious attention–and yet. with all these buckles going on on your feet, the rest of your outfit could (and most likely should) be fairly conservative. A short dress with long sleeves and high neck might do the trick, otherwise the requisite skinney pants.  These also come in black, but those are far less interesting. The cool thing is that even with 4.5″ heels, these look comfortable (ahem, no I do not own a pair).  Balmain Suede Buckled Ankle Boot $1,195 at Net-A-Porter.com

Yummy, buttery, shimmery Lanvin

Lanvin

I just don’t see how you can go wrong with booties like these from Lanvin.  They are exactly what I loooooove.  “Classic with a twist”.  You’ve got the traditional Oxford done up in two-tone bronze/dark red metalic calfskin. So beautiful for fall/winter. There is nothing out there that is quite like this one. What to wear with them?  Some skinny suede pants in any warm brownish tone (short enough not to cover the shoes of course!) or a skirt with tights.  These have a life of their own. Lanvin Patent Oxford Bootie. Four-inch heel with 1″ platform.  $1,040 at KirnaZabete.com
