Ciara in Christian Louboutin Supra Fifre Boots

VEVO Launches Destination for Premium Music Video
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that these aptly named, Christian Louboutin “Supra Fifre” boots in fire engine red likely had only two customers this year: Singer Ciara, and maybe Wonder Woman. That’s not to say I don’t love them. I do. They’re the kind of boots which, the first day I became a super star or a super heroine, I would run right out and buy. But until that day, I’ll just enjoy living vicariously. The Christian Louboutin Supra Fifre boots are very hard to find. Your best bet is to call your nearest Barney’s, Bergdorfs and Niemans and ask their advice. And let me know if you actually buy a pair!

Christian Louboutin Leather Bootie

Christian Louboutin has done it again. He’s created a gorgeous boot that, without being outlandish, is both distinctive and flattering. I love the seams and contrast stitching that keep this basic calf-leather boot interesting. 4″ heel. Available at Bergdorf Goodman.

Christian Louboutin Tuba Tall Boots

Categories:  Black, Christian Louboutin, Fall/Winter Boots, Flat/Low Heels (0 to 2.9 inches), Mid-Calf to Knee-High

Boring, boring and boring. Who would have thought I’d EVER say that about a boot from the master himself?  This is perhaps my harshest review of any boot, but I don’t worry, in light of my uncontrolled gushing over everything Louboutin for the past several months.  We’ve come to know Louboutin for his uncanny ability to turn out styles that are so unique that, even without the signature red-sole, they are instantly recognizable for their individuality. And yet they are so beautiful, and have such mass appeal, that Louboutin has gained the power to set trends as quickly as he can churn out new styles.  This is why his version of the English riding boot puzzles me. Other designers, such as Ralph Lauren, have shown that even the most simple riding boot can be elegant and appealing. The Christian Louboutin Tuba Boots look like their name sounds–kind of a shiny, round, tubular shape, with an ankle bordering on being too thick and an overall profile that is simply unflattering.  But if you disagree with me, you can find these for $1,370 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Nicky Hilton sure has come a long way. I like this look because she shows how dressing beautifully doesn’t have to be complicate. Leopart print is HOT this season, and a nice change from the all black uniform. Paired with black leggings and Christian Louboutin “Babel” Platform Boots, this look is a score. 5″ heel 1 ” platform. Available for $1,457 at mytheresa.com.

What to wear with leopard-print booties

The Cinema Society Screening Of "Brothers" - Arrivals

I don’t think there could be a more perfect companion to leopard print booties than a lovely red dress. In this case, a Yigal Azrouel dress worn by Russian Model, Anne V., to the “Brothers” Cinema Society Screening in L.A.  I’m always a bit ambivalent about animal prints because I can’t think what to wear with them that will not clash or become too busy. Then again the plain old black from head to ankle outfit with the bright or complicated boot is leaving me cold too. Then I happened upon this photo of the lovely Ms. V. and, as the venerable Emeril Lagasse would say, “Bam!” I got the look I was looking for.  As of this post, there is only one teeny tiny little pair of these Christian Louboutin Leopart-Print Booties available online for $1,375 (and no they don’t take other currency such as your right arm, eye teeth or first-born child) at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. There are only a few sizes left, but if there is one available online, then that means if you call around and search high and low enough, you still just might be able to find your size. Happy Hunting!

Where can I get Christian Louboutin Boots on Sale?

THE OFFICAL LOGO CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTINIt’s the question of the year.  Christian Louboutin is unarguably THE most successful, most recognized, most sought-after footwear designer of 2009. Louboutin’s ankle boots and booties for the 2009 fall/winter season, many of which I have covered in this blog, have reached iconic status.

This is the year when Jennifer Lopez wrote the song “Throwing on my Louboutins”–making the phrase synonymous with walking out on a loser boyfriend.  Check out the video below.  Besides J-Lo, Louboutin shoes have been worn by countless celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, Nicole Richie, Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Taylor Swift, Naomi Watts, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nikki Reed, Blake Lively, Lauren Conrad, Halle Berry, Kristin Bell, all of the Kardashian sisters..and the list goes on and on. Really, the question in Hollywood is, “Who hasn’tworn Louboutin?”

Besides the unsurpassed quality and design, all of this celebrity attention has made popular styles of Louboutin shoes and boots difficult to come by, and the prices–recession-proof.  To “rectify” the situation for non-celeb, non-millionaire shoppers out there, Louboutin counterfeiters have been popping up like dandelions all over the internet. There are many more counterfeit sellers than authentic ones out there. How do you know?  Consult the very active and knowledgeable Christian Louboutin Authentification Forum over at the Purse Blog.  In a nutshell though, any site selling this season’s Christian Louboutin styles for less than $500 is fake.

Really need some Louboutin’s but are on a tight budget? Ebay is your best bet. You will find both real and fake boots here too. First, look for sellers with a long history and high rating by a large number of users.  If you have any question, send the link to the pair you’re considering over to the forum mentioned above, and they will tell you whether they are real or fake. (These ladies are professionals!)

To buy from a real store, your best bet is to just keep watching and POUNCE IMMEDIATELY once any styles go on sale.  It would pay to visit Shopstyle.com and sign up to receive an email elert whenever the brand or style you want goes on sale.  The slideshow below features the Christian Louboutin boots currently for sale at most of the major (established and reputable) stores that carry them. Click on any boot to see details and buy.

For a real trip, visit the Christian Louboutin Official Website and you will enter a magical place. Trust me.

And, here’s J-Lo’s love song to Louboutin.

The Look of 2009: The Year’s Most Iconic Boots

Categories:  Balmain, Burberry, Chloé, Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti, Trend Alert, Yves Saint Laurent

“What boots is she wearing and where I can get them?”–a question posed countless times a day in chat rooms all over the web, referring to a photo of a celebrity trend-setter wearing a fabulous but unrecognizable pair of boots.  The boots below do not fit into that category.  Anyone with a respectable amount of fashion trend awareness KNOWS who made these boots because they have the killer combination of 1) having a distinctive look, 2) reflecting (most likely setting) a trend, and 3) having been worn, at least once, by one of today’s fashion icons–women like Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung, Rihanna, Rachel Bilson, Leighton Meester, and Beyonce to name a few.

Hate, like or love them, these boots were some of the most recognizable of 2009.

Never Enough Nitoinimoi

CL Nitoinimoi brown red mytheresaI reviewed the Christian Louboutin Nitoinimoi bandage bootie earlier in the black-on-black version and I think I was almost deleriously in love because I called them something like one of the iconic looks for the early 21st century.  The thing is, I’m feeling a little more sober now and I’m still inexplicably attracted to these ones–in brown and red!  So it must be true love.  I think the red strips look just like ribbon candy.  Just in time for Christmas! (you got that Santa?).  But I’ll tell you, much like sushi, these were an acquired taste.  I think everyone does sort of a double-take with the Nitoinimoi (OK I’ll stop typing the name because I know you stumble on it, even when reading silently).  Am I just too taken with this style–and that’s why I’d even consider–nay salivate over–this pair in brown and red?  Whether you call these iconic or not, new pairs are definitely near extinction. Find these ones for $1, 205 at mytheresa.com.

Christian Louboutin: Caged Bird

Categories:  Black, Booties and Ankle Boots, Celebrity Style, Christian Louboutin, Designer, Fall/Winter Boots, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sky High Heels (4 inches +)

Louboutin Coussin Caged Ankle Bootie
Gwyneth in Louboutin CagesChristian Louboutin’s Coussin Caged Ankle Bootie rivals his Circus 120 cut-outs  and his Nitoinimoi Bandage ankle boots for the title of Most Recognizable Little Black Boot of fall 2009. Look at how Gwynnie rocks them to the left. I KNOW, two posts on her in two days.  But after all it IS Gwyneth Paltrow. And it’s my blog.

These booties are literally sheer genius–the way Louboutin took thin straps of leather and wound them together to make cables which he proceeded to weave together in an open-lattice frame–place it on a platform atop his signature red-leather sole and thus make swooning fools of some of the most fashionable women in the world.  How does this guy keep knocking ‘em out of the park like this? I’d say his batting average is [insert relevant number here once I understand baseball].

Luckily, several stores had the foresight to stock these babies and you can get them at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus for $1,595. These shoes also have the dubious distinction of being the most expensive I’ve reviewed so far. Not for the faint of heart nor the light of wallet. Sigh.
