Yves Saint Laurent “Gaby” Boots

If you are looking for a simple, elegant boot to wear with knee-length skirts this season, the  black suede Yves Saint Laurent “Gaby” boots seem just about perfect.  These look sky high. But with a 4″ heel and 1″ platform, it’s just like wearing 3″ heels. You can pull that off, right?  The narrow ankle and curved shaft does justice to the shape of a woman’s leg.  A beautiful boot for a beautiful price. They’ve recently been reduced to $905 down from $1,288 at mytheresa.com.

ABC 20/20 Feature on Counterfeit Footwear

Can you tell which shoe above is a real Christian Louboutin? True designers are artists. While anyone in the fashion (or art or literary…) world will tell you, creative people are influenced by each other. However that is different from outright copying, counterfeiting and plagiarism.  Not only do such offenders steal the intellectual creations of others, they mislead consumers. ABC’s 20/20 will be airing a show with a segment on the counterfeit footwear industry tonight at 10 p.m. EST where it will reveal, among other things, which of the above shoes is real!

My One and Only Marc Jacobs

I think if I could buy just one ankle boot this season, it would be this delicious Marc by Marc Jacobs creation.  The fluttery ruffle makes me think of a butterfly’s wings, feminine but not fussy.  And they’re TAUPE! How many people in the room are going to have TAUPE boots? (I like to stand out a little in m’ boots).  The tapered square heel rules in my book–more delicate than some, but not as wobbly as the stiletto.  The 3.5-inch heel is just manageable, as is the $495 price tag.  Marc by Marc Jacobs Ruffle-embellished suede ankle boot at Net-A-Porter.com
